Dear Moderator

Dear Moderator,

My name is Lois May Shipwright and my Candidate Number is: 8034

I have created a horror movie trailer, a website and a poster for the movie trailer, which can all be found on my blog. I used iMovie for the creation of the movie trailer and I also used Prezi and iMovie for my evaluation.

Thank you taking the time to assess my work.

Lois May Shipwright :)

Final - The Ouija Deal

Final Poster

This is the image of my completed movie poster. I have included the majority of the conventions of a movie poster. I have kept the consistency of the colour scheme throughout my website, poster and titles within the movie trailer the same. Although there are a few changes that could be made to the poster, I am pleased with how it looks.

The Ouija Deal- Movie Trailer So Far

This is our movie trailer so far which we have uploaded to YouTube. We have uploaded so people can give us comments on how to improve our movie trailer. After watching the movie trailer ourselves we notice that there are a few little tweaks that we want to add, just to help improve it that little bit more.

Evaluation Questions

In today's media lesson we are given the questions for us to start planning and creating our evaluation for our movie trailer. We need to be as creative as we can to ensure that we achieve the best marks available

The following questions is what needs to be done in order for us to complete our evaluation:

1- In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (ie- of teaser trailers/posters/magazines)

2- How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

3- What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

4- How did you use new media technologies in the construct and research, planning and evaluation stages?

The final deadline for all our tasks to be completed, including the evaluation is Friday 28th March

Poster So Far

This is my poster so far. I have been advised to add to the bottom of the poster the information about the production company and screenplay and who the film has been directed by. This is going to be in small text so it doesnt take the focus away from the main body of the image to much, but big enough for people to be able to read.

Changing of the Font

As i was creating my poster, I asked my media teacher for advice on how to develop it and whether or not I should make some changes to what I have originally done. One of the changes that was suggested to me was the font i had used on the actors names. My teacher didn't like that font being on my poster. To help improve my poster, I listened to her advice and decided to change it to a different font.

As you can see I have now changed the font on my poster. I can see the difference and do believe that the new font I have chosen fits well on the poster compared to the previous font. I also showed my teacher the changes that I had made to the font, she also agreed that the font was much better so I have decided to stick with this font.

Starting of my Movie Poster

This is the progress of my movie poster so far. I have decided to use Adobe Photoshop to create my poster. I have added the background photo and I am going to use this as my base and work around it. I have included the title of the film in the middle of the page but this may change as I start to add more content to my poster.

Changing colour of poster to black and white

The original image that I am using on my poster is in colour. To add effect to my poster I want to change this so the image has a black and white effect, To do this I selected image, and then grayscale.

As you can see from the below picture the whole image as now successfully changed the colour of the image to black and white.

Creating Twitter and Facebook pages for our Website

To have links on our website to social networking sites we decided to create a Twitter and Facebook page for our movie trailer.

Creating the website title

To create the heading I used the same website as we did in the movie trailer, dafont.com. I wanted to keep the same style font as we used in our trailer, so the style would continue through all of our products. I have kept the colour scheme simple with just using the colours red and white, as I don't want the home page to be too over powering.

Creating My Website

I have decided to use the website Wix to create my own website. I have never done this before, but the reason I am using Wix as it gives you set templates, is free to use and I am able to log onto my Wix account whether I am at home or at school, so it is easier for me to access and edit my website at anytime.

Once I set up a Wix account I was then able to start the process of making my website. The picture below shows the template that I am going to use.

The reason I have chosen this template as the front page has a simple look. It will allow me to insert my movie trailer on my homepage as this is where it should be, as it is my main focus of the website. The simplicity of the home page allows the attention to be only on my movie trailer. The tabs located at the top of the page will make it easier for the users to navigate their way around my website as I aim to create different pages as well as just my home page. The title 'The Ouija Deal' will sit at the top of the page. I will change the colour scheme so it continues on from the colour schemes we have used in the movie and also colours that are represented with our genre of horror.

Class Review of our trailer

Today in class we all had a look at each others music videos and movie trailers. This allowed us to give each group constructive feedback on what myself and Remi felt they done really well but also what we think they should change/do the make their music video/movie trailer even better.
These are the sheets that are given out for us to write our comments on:

The feedback that we got for our movie trailer that overall it was OK. We got a few areas that our peers feel that we need to change/do to help us in improving our movie trailer overall. One of the main changes that was suggested by everyone was to turn up the volume of the people's voices so you could hear them speaking over our background song.

Changes to Sombre Production Logo

In this photo you can see that the starting scene is of the Sombre Production logo. After getting feedback from our media teacher, she suggested that it looked too much like a star wars them with the colours. After looking at the logo again, we agree with our teacher and decided to change the colour of our logo to fit our movie trailer better. We didn't want our trailer to be associated with Star Wars.

This is how the Sombre Productions logo looks now after we decided to change the colour to red.
